Born in 1987, Florian grew up in the Franconian countryside. In 2012 he graduated from University of Bayreuth in Theater and Media Studies and in 2018 in Feature Film Directing from University of Television and Film Munich.
He was chosen to participate at the MEXICAN FILM RESIDENCY in Tepoztlán in 2015 to work on his thesis and first feature film PAMPARIOS which went on to premiere at VISIONS DU RÈEL in 2018. Projects he worked on as an editor won or were awarded at international film festivals: the short film HANDBOOK by Pavel Mozhar won the international competition at IDFA Amsterdam in 2021, the Mexican feature LA RESERVA by Pablo Perez Lombardini won BEST FEATURE at Festival International de Cine de Morelia in 2025 and is nominated for the PREMIO ARIEL 2026 in several categories and the German feature ERZÄHL MIR DEIN MORGEN / DEAR FUTURE SELF won two prizes at the Filmfest Munich in 2026.
Since 2017 he has also been working as videodesigner with theatre and opera directors Ersan Mondtag, Ulrich Rasche and Felicitas Brucker (their first collaboration NORA was invited to Berliner Theatertreffen in 2023). He worked at Kammerspiele München, Theater Basel, Schauspiel Köln, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Residenztheater München, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Theater Bremen, Volkstheater Wien and Salzburger Festspiele.
